Cuteness Overload

Can you believe it's the last day of April? It's crazy how fast time flies. Well everyone knows I love browsing the web. I love looking at everything and anything. It's ridiculous the stuff I actually find on the web. There are so many adorable things on here. It's like an overload of cuteness at the tip of my fingertips. I actually saw some super cute stuff online last week that I wanted to share with
you all.

KuSaFuNe, a company in Japan has created some of my favorite ceramics pieces. These extremely adorable animal vases are cute and clever. My favorite has to be the whale vase. The fact that the blowhole is where you stick your plant is brilliant. These vases are unique and can bring a sense of happiness and whimsy to your daily life.

When I saw these stylish soft toys it reminded me of the movie "Dinner For Schmucks." This has to be one of my favorite movies of all time, it's just hilarious. If you aren't familiar with it, the main character Barry creates and dresses up mice he has stuffed. I don't want to go into detail about the movie but he makes and decorates these mice and their atmosphere. The visuals of the movie are way cuter than I described, but these critters just reminded me of it. Also the clothes and accessories for these critters are way more stylish than most dolls. You can interchange their clothes and dress them up to your own desire.

Lastly I found these plush DIY clouds designed by Fanny Motch of Petit Poulou. I have a fascination with mobiles and anything plush. I'm like a big kid who never grew up. Anything that spins on a string just amazes me. These cloud mobiles are cute and they're designed gorgeously. The paper cranes hanging off the clouds as well as the fluffy balls adds an extra touch of whimsical to an ordinary plush. They make them more exciting and dynamic.

There are so many amazing things hidden on the web. It's a matter of digging and browsing countless sites. This could take you forever. Why not let me do all the work? Just come here for new, innovative stuff. No need to waste your time right? Everything is filtered to the best of the web and the best of what life has to offer!

Colorful Bows

I've never been one for fashion. I never know what's trendy or "in" at the moment. I dress in clothes I like and accessorize around them. When I mean accessorize, I mean adding a necklace or watch when I feel like it. I do occasionally look at fashion blogs just to see what others find intriguing. Accessories are key to making a outfit stand out. It gives character to an outfit and sets one person apart from another. If you don't accessorize, you might be caught wearing the exact same outfit as someone else, making you dull and average. By no means does anyone want to be caught in the same outfit as something else or be called "average." Bows have been big in the fashion industry for forever. They've outlasted the trends and have become a classic piece in fashion. They're versatile in function and they're made for everyone. Check out some of these colorful bows.

For her, bows are big in the hair accessory department. Growing up, all little girls love princesses. They want to emulate their look and a key accessory that almost every princess has is a hair piece. These range from clips to bands. Bows are cute, fun, and whimsical. Finding some to fit one's personality is pretty simple seeing how they come in a wide range of selections including fabrics and colors.

For him, the staple piece accessory is the bow tie. Many associate these with nerds and geeky glasses. But in the fashion realm, these are quite fashionable. They're classic yet fun. As with the hair accessory, bow ties come in a variety of colors and fabrics, patterns and style.

Bows are not only for humans. Why can't your pets look fashionable on their walks? I always love animals in clothing. It's just a sight you don't see everyday and I'm amused every time I see them. I love anything on pets from shoes to shirts to Halloween costumes. By far, the bow tie has to be the best accessory for pets. This makes them fashion forward and cuter than they already are. So the next time you dress yourself or your pet, think about accessorizing. It's a fun way to make you feel happier about life. Whether it's hair accessories or bow ties, try the bow out for a enjoyable, fashion-forward look!

Furniture Cake Maker

Happy Saturday! As a designer I love anything creative and out-of-the-norm. Product design has to be one of my favorite categories. I can spend countless hours browsing through various websites staring at the design of products. Even though I can't cook or bake, I'm fond of baking accessories and products. Ryosuke Fukusada and Rui Pereira of Sapore Del Mobili combined their design as well as cultural backgrounds to design a product that made a statement. Their project, this furniture pan was contrived out of the concept that furniture companies creates so many different products a year that a consumer will not be able to keep up with or "digest" these products. Bringing about this pan. You can create as many pieces of cake furniture you wish to consume. Plus it's fun. You'll be able to defy what you were told as a kid and play with your food. You'll be able to create, decorate, then eat your creation. With all the cake decorating specialties out there, you can become an instant interior designer. These cakes are cute and unique. Everyone will love these furniture cakes!

Unique Cake Toppers

It's no secret that I love cake. Everything about them is pure heaven, from their look to their taste. But the thing that really draws me to a cake is what's on them. Cakes are fun and exciting by themselves, but for some reason decorated cakes tastes so much better. Our minds are powerful tools. Image is everything. You may have two of the same cakes, one decorated, one not and I'm pretty sure you'd think the decorated one tastes better. That's our minds playing tricks on us. I do this all the time. Since it looks better, it might as well taste better. The easiest way to decorate a cake is by adding a topper. This is a simple yet inexpensive way to jazz up a cake without overdoing it and making it cheesy. When I say topper I'm not talking about the cheap plastic ones on birthday and wedding cakes. I'm talking about unique and creative toppers that are clean, bold and elegant.

If there's a cake, it must be a celebration. Why buy a cake that looks like everyone else? Potter + Butler has created cake pom topper decorations that are delicate and sophisticated. These beauties are made from tissue and crepe paper. That makes these look light and airy, fresh and innovative. These toppers demand attention. They bring a clear focal point that will surely be the talk of the night.

Balloons symbolize fun and festivity. It's not a party without them. Why not show them off on a pedestal of a cake? This will definitely draw attention to it. This topper is perfect for any occasion. This brings a simple, carnivalesque feeling that conveys joy and happiness.

Chalkboard Banner Topper

You know how I feel about chalkboards. They are simply amazing. They give you the freedom to write or draw anything on them one would like. This chalkboard banner topper puts a twist on the ordinary cake topper. They're customizable and reusable and still give off an elegant look.

Flags have been a big trend in cakes for some time now. They symbolize freedom and are used to mark a desired point. These flag toppers are exceptional in the way they are head turners. They are clearly focal points. Flags are meant to mark something of interest, something meant to be seen. Flag cake toppers are perfect for any occasion that command atttention.

White Paper Mache Bird Topper

Birds, like flags, symbolize freedom. These paper mache love birds are cute and charming. The fact that they are white symbolizes purity and a cleanliness. Putting this topper on a white cake creates an ultimate statement of a fresh beginning.

Yarn-wrapped Wooden Wreath Topper

Last but not least is the topper that takes the cake. This yarn-wrapped wooden wreath is a statement piece in itself. It's saying 'Hey, look at me. Look at my accessory. I'm simply beautiful." And yes, this is a beauty. The neutral colors of the wreath compliments this white cake so perfectly. The little touch of red brings that pop of color to brighten up the cake and enliven the atmosphere.  All in all you don't need to stick to the traditional cake topper. Don't just take what you are given in a cake shop. Look around and be open-minded. Anything can be a cake topper. You just have to keep your eyes open and let your imagination run wild!

Cardboard Takeover

Even though it's not Earth day anymore we can still do our parts in preserving Mother Nature. Recycling is more than just paper, plastics, cans and bottles. Cardboard is a great resource for creating anything you could think of from toys to furniture. It's versatile in that they come in many sizes. I've made really simple things out of cardboard such as books and wallets but I haven't yet figure how to go beyond this. For me, cardboard can only go so far. But the things one can create with just simple cardboard is just astonishing.

Cardboard houses are a staple in building a kid's creativity. I didn't have the luxury of owning one of these as a kid but I used my creativity and had multiple boxes which I pretended were houses. But these houses are more accessible today than ever. You can either make them yourselves with all the DIY tutorials out there or you can purchase them from companies such as Chasing Fireflies. These can shape one's creativity. They're meant to be drawn on and decorated, played in and around. It's versatile in purpose and well worth it's effort.

Chris Gilmour is an artist who specializes in creating life-sized objects out of nothing more than cardboard and glue. This cardboard car took around two years to create and as you can see the details on it are amazing. Who knew cardboard could bend and mold into smooth curves and rounded circles?

Using cardboard for furniture is a clever idea. They are unique and just beautiful to look at. But first thing to think about is that cardboard is pretty fragile and won't hold heavy weights. Making cardboard chairs takes a lot of planning and mapping out. Creating a strong grid and structure is key in getting a usable chair. Glue doesn't hurt either.

If you thought cardboard chairs were out there, check out this office made entirely out of cardboard. It was created by Dutch designer Joost van Bleiswijk and Design Director Alrik Koudenburg for an advertising agency. The best part is that is "no glue, no screw." This means it's quite sturdy. As you can see, this is a fully functioning office, with props and everything. The patio-styled deck has to be my favorite. I really need one of these to brighten my mornings and get me through the day.

Hands down robots have to be one of the coolest machines out there. Breaking them down and creating them out of cardboard is even cooler. They now defy their existence and become nothing more than just a visual stimulant. This cardboard robot was created by Calafant for your personal gain, it was made so you could build yourself a new friend. Can you feel the love?

Ikea even got on board and had AUGE Headquarter create their annual sale marketing campaign. Ikea is known for having furniture that literally fit into boxes making them easily accessible to customers. The idea of "you can get more" is cleaver in this way. Instead of showing an actual bed, this is a more creative way to represent the bed and still keep the brand integrity.

I'm a big fan of cameras so I saved the best for last. I love the idea of pinhole cameras and how they can easily be made out of virtually anything. The fact that this cardboard pinhole Hasselblad created by Kelly Good actually looks and function like a real camera is a major plus.

All in all, save your cardboard scraps for something more useful, fun and creative. It doesn't have to be something seen as only a box. Be open minded and rethink the ordinary cardboard. They are the perfect resource for creating and expanding your sense of creativity!
