Creative Lunch Box

Kids and some adults are quite picky with their food and what they eat. I'm not going to lie, I'm one of these people. I'm very cautious of foods that stray away from what I'm used too. I'm also not too adventurous with my food. I hate when I order something new and end up not liking it, wasting my time and money. You can say I'm safe with my food choices. I stick to what I know and like or anything that looks pretty. For me, sight is what initially draws me to food. Even if it doesn't taste good, it will make a great photo. I'm not alone with this. Food artists are hired to make food look more edible and enjoyable. It makes food sell and gives picky eaters a chance to try foods they're otherwise not going to try. Creating creative lunch boxes is a sure way to let picky eaters explore and enjoy their food.

Collection From the Last Week

I know it's a little late but Happy Memorial Day Weekend! A big thank you to all our heroic troops for protecting our freedoms. If it weren't for them, writing and reading this blog might not be possible. Over the weekend I had a chance to think about my priorities and with this, I've been more open-minded and less snappy. It's surreal that one day your freedom can be taken away from you. I'm just grateful for my freedom and everything life has offered me. Anyhoo I've found a few neat things here and there and wanted to share them with you all.

Home Sweet Home

Talking about surrealism, check out these apartment cabinets by FermLiving. These cabinets are simply adorable. Their main purpose is to house smaller items. Isn't that clever? I would personally put all my little toys in there just to give them somewhere to live. The dynamics of these cabinets are quirky and fun. This single room apartment creates a room within a room effect. Oh the irony.

The two photos above are both include creative products designed by Studio Ditte. Look at these closely. They are whimsical and magical. They play tricks on your mind. Are they 2D or 3D? Wallpaper, Decals, or physical birdhouses? It's just mind-blowing. The top photo is actually physical paper birdhouses which were inspired by the bottom photo, the background being wallpaper. Pair these with the patterned bed set and your room will be a cozy (birdhouse) oasis.

Paper Robots

Studio Ditte has also created these cool DIY paper robots. I mean, who doesn't love robots? Especially when you can make them yourself. This gives you the freedom to feel creative without doing too much printing and thinking. Each one will come out perfect because they're made with love. Place them anywhere you want from cupcakes to your walls!

Picture Frame

This is by far the coolest picture frame I've seen. It brings family tree to a whole new level. OnceUponaTree creates natural, handmade wooden trees inspired by the symbolism behind trees. They are made to inspire and give power and trust to their audience. This mean no two trees are the same. You can easily personalize these by placing your own photos inside and painting them any color or pattern you'd like. These will tell a story you can only dream up. You will have the freedom to explore and grow your tree into something unique and wonderful. At the end of the day, don't forget to stay humble and thankful for the freedom you are given!

Simple Black and White

I know I've stated black and white as being simple. Don't take this the wrong way. It's not an understatement. When I say simple, I mean uncomplicated, clean and classic. It's a minimal look that's neutral and extremely stunning. Black and white are two completely opposite colors, yet go together so perfectly. Black symbolizes darkness, death, mystery, and sophistication. While white symbolizes light, life, purity, and elegance. Combining these colors complement each other and balance their characteristics. You see why they blend together so well. Black and white are a classic combination. In these modern times with bright busy colors everywhere, take some time to slow down and enjoy life. Just live your life as simple as black and white. You can never go wrong with that. Everything else will fall in place.

Everyone Loves Donuts

So I've been trying to eat healthier, but my one downfall is donuts. I mentally and physically cannot say, "no I don't want a donut." So please don't offer me any. Donuts have been one of my favorite breakfast/dessert items since I was little. It was in every corner and in every store. They were cheap and fast for the morning rush. The worst part about this obsession is my favorite donut which is maple bacon. Who doesn't love sweet and salty? So bad, but so good. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

Gigantic Donut Pool Float

Ready for Summer? This pool floaty is super adorable. It puts a spin on the traditional pool float and makes it more whimsical and eye-catching. The frosting and sprinkles are a classic look for the donut. Looks so delicious someone took a bite out of it. You'll totally look sweet sitting in this thing.

Donut Lego

Remember this? Bruce Lowell's food Lego sculpture of a donut is whimsy and unique. If you squint your eyes, you'd see a fluffy chocolate sprinkle donut. The colorful sprinkles have to be my favorite part about this piece. It adds that extra detail that complete the sculpture and make it believable.

Donut in Fashion

Donuts are not only for eating. They are quite inspirational in the fashion industry. Check out this donut bun. It's literally a twist on the hair updo. It adds a sense of smart sophistication to your style.

These two photos above remind me of The Simpsons, mainly Homer. The pink sprinkle donut is his signature donut, every Simpsons fan should know that. The lips and nails are sparkly and super cute enough to be edible. These are a fresh take on the donut and make your look brighter and more fun.

Donut Accessories

In my opinion donuts are way cooler than the mustache. I may get some haters, but look at these accessories. How can you not love donuts. They are colorful, whimsical, and are a symbol of your childhood. These brightly colored accessories will add color to your outfits and make you more youthful and playful.

Handsewn Donut

Seeing stuff like this really makes me wish I knew how to sew. I'm the worst at craftsmanship. If I tried to make this, I'd stab myself continuously with the needle and it'd probably look like someone ran it over. No joke. But this handsewn donut is incredibly adorable. I'd love a dozen of these delivered to me in a pink box. It'll definitely make me happy and keep me on track with my healthy diet. In the end, I still want a donut and wish I had a donut making machine. This way I could secretly eat donuts while others are asleep!

Lego-mania

Lego is known to all as their favorite pastime activity. Its colorful blocks are a memory associated with fun and youth. If you aren't familiar with the Lego Group brand, you were probably living under a rock. The Lego brand is everywhere. It's grown so popular that it even has its own theme parks, Legoland. Personally, Lego has been one of my favorite childhood toys. It gave me a chance to be creative and explore my imagination. Today Lego is more than just a toy for kids. It has become a monstrous sensation in creating anything one can dream of.

Check out these cute pictures above. They are incredibly realistic for being made out of Lego pieces. Bruce Lowell creates miniature Lego masterpieces modeled after household objects and food. He has to be familiar with all of the Lego pieces to know how to construct these seeing how they aren't your prepackaged store bought sets. This is imagination and creativity at its finest.

Lego is a symbol of fun. It brings you back to a simpler time when you weren't responsible for anything. It symbolizes freedom. Sporting this watch will be a reminder of that simpler time. Sorry for that terrible joke.

Interior

Lego is not only for creating household items, but can be used in interior design for furniture. Simon Pillard and Philippe Rossetti has gone beyond the childhood Lego sets and has utilized Lego to decorate their living space. It started with a 500 piece Lego chair and has grown into this 20,000 piece Lego-covered island. Who wouldn't want to stare at this everyday? It brings joy and playfulness to any living area.

There are thousands of different pieces in a vast array of colors. These can create anything you can dream up. There is no limitation to what you can come up with. These little colorful blocks are a memory of childhood youth and fun. You don't have to be a kid to play with these things. As long as you have an imagination and a will to build and create, you are allowed to toy around with these. Just remember, staying young at heart is not a crime. As Picasso states, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." I couldn't have said it better than myself Picasso!

Favorites From The Last Week

Happy Sunday! It's been such an eventful week full of excitement and random wonderful finds. Each piece in this collection I put together stood out to me and was calling my name. They are from different sites but seem like they are from one collection seeing how they are unified by color and style. Every piece was picked out to portray a feeling this week. This feeling is that of relaxation. I touched upon the topic for a few posts and I feel like this collection really sums up the last week. Get ready to sit and kick your feet up, these pieces will surely make you forget your troubles and make you feel lighter and happier.

Cute Doll
photo via evangelione

This is by far one of the cutest dolls I have seen. Craftist-artist Yeo Mei Ying has an eye for cute. Her dolls are fierce, vicious, and incredibly adorable. It has the right balance of good and evil which creates a delightful combination. They are light-hearted and gives you a sense of joy.

Wall Vase
photo via the otchipotchi shop

Keeping in line with all white interior design, this wall vase is pretty relaxing. The fact that they come in an odd numbered set creates an off-balance and dynamism. This keeps the focal point more interesting while still being a unified neutral color.

Pendant Lamp
photo via Bodie and Fou

This lamp is geometric, minimal, whimsical, and extremely different from what we picture a lamp to look like. It was created by Normann Copenhagen and does an exceptional job at being a tranquil focal point. This piece is simple, yet intricate at the same time. It's a piece you can stare at all day and still be amazed by it days later. It can take you away from the world and bring piece to your mind.

Redbowl
photo via Doug Johnston

This photo doesn't do this piece justice. This redbowl by Doug Johnston plays tricks on your vision. At first I thought it was a ceramic piece. It's organic shape was so convincing. Then I found out it is actually made of cotton sash cord and threads. That fact instantly sold me on this piece. The color combination is neutral and complements each other well. This bowl is a statement piece that demands attention.

Mini Treasure Pot
photo via Wind and Willow Home

This miniature pot is the most adorable thing ever. It's natural wood goes perfectly with the rubber coloring. It gives off a sense of serene and calm. It's small stature is perfect for small little treasures or surprises.

Hand-letter Print
photo via lovemaki

This piece by Lovemaki sums up this entire week in one photo. Life is about living and loving, being as simple as black and white. We need to live life stress free, keep calm and stay relaxed. Having personal items in and around your living space can change how you feel and act. Stick with light, neutral colors and minimal shapes. Pair this with odd numbered sets for a more dynamic setup without it killing the mood. If you want to feel relaxed this Summer, lighten up your atmosphere to lighten up your life!
