Happy (late) Independence Day

I know it's a little late, but Happy Independence Day! I hope everyone had a chance to relax, hang with family and friends, and enjoy the fireworks. I had the opportunity to go to my local park and photograph the fireworks. Since this was my first time doing so, I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Independence day is a day to let loose and celebrate. It's about getting together with good company for good memories. Making memories is all about presentation and creating that "wow" factor. Just like fireworks, your decor should represent, stand out, be loud, and make a blast.

Out of all the photos I took yesterday, this has to be my favorite. I was experimenting with mainly composition and this one spoke the most to me. Sounds kind of weird, but it pretty much sums up my entirely day in one shot. It's explosive, bright, and simply wonderful. Photographing fireworks is something everyone should try at least once. It's not something everyone will actually do, but the experience and photographs you'll get out of it will surely blow your mind.

For the ultimate experience, your decor should start even before a guest enter your living space. The wreath is a universal way to portray a friendly welcome or something homely and joyous. A red, white, and blue wreath says just that. It will set the tone of what's to come and customizing it with your own message will personalize the party to your satisfaction.

These tabletop keepsakes are simply adorable. They are easy to create and duplicate but still can make a big statement. Add a couple of USA flags in them and you are ready to go! The best part is you don't have to stick to just this style. Bring your own personality into this and mix it up. Play around this idea and create something that only you can imagine.

Desserts are always the stand out at any party, probably more than the decoration. At least that's how I feel. But I love food art so seeing pretty desserts are always a plus. This cupcake by Taste of Home is patriotic and characteristic. The best part is that it's red velvet and ice cream! Combine that with the festive colors and star shapes and you'll get an instant hit with this classic dessert.
Independence Day Surprise Cake

If cupcakes weren't enough, check out this Captain America/Independence Day surprise cake. The visual of the outer cake itself will surely be a hit, but the reaction when one cuts into this cake will surely take the cake. It's clever and whimsical and absolutely charming. This will definitely be memorable and create that firework ending. You can find the recipe here. Like any special occasion, the little things should be just as important as the main decor. Everything should complement each other and stick to one theme. Your guests will have a great experience and you'll make memories that will last a lifetime!
